Pregnancy Week by Week/Week 36: Lungs are Ready

Week 36: Lungs are Ready
At 36 weeks, your baby is almost ready to enter the world. Their lungs have fully matured, preparing them for breathing outside the womb. The bones are hardening to provide the necessary support for their body.
During this stage, your baby is shedding most of their lanugo hair, the fine hair that once covered their body. They are also losing the waxy vernix caseosa that protected their delicate skin throughout pregnancy. These changes indicate that your baby is getting ready for life outside the womb. Your baby is about the size of a bunch of romaine lettuce, a useful visual to track their growth.
Your Body During Week 36
Your body is also preparing for labor. You may experience mild cramping known as Braxton Hicks contractions, which are false labor pains helping your body get ready. Another sign to watch for is the dislodging of the mucus plug, which can indicate early labor.
Other symptoms you might notice include dizziness due to cardiovascular changes, pain in your hips or groin, and additional pressure in your lower abdomen as your body adjusts to the baby's position.

Ultrasound (Pelvic) Non-Pregnant
A pelvic ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive scan that captures images of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic area. It helps detect fibroids, cysts, and other abnormalities, and is useful for investigating pelvic pain, irregular periods, or fertility issues. For best results, schedule between days 5–10 of your menstrual cycle, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

Ultrasound (Whole Abdomen)
This test evaluates the organs and structures within the entire abdominal cavity, including the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, and bladder.
The patient lies down, and a water-based gel is applied to the abdomen. A transducer is moved over the area to capture real-time images.
It is used to detect tumors, cysts, inflammation, and organ enlargement, and is useful in diagnosing liver diseases, gallstones, kidney stones, and other abdominal pathologies.
