Week 16: Eye Movements
This week marks exciting developments as your baby's eyes begin to make small movements and respond to light. You may also notice the beginning of thumb-sucking, a comforting habit your baby is starting to develop.
The heart is working hard, pumping approximately 25 quarts of blood each day to support your baby's growth and development. You might start to feel gentle kicks and movements, signaling your baby's increasing activity inside the womb. Your baby is growing rapidly and is now about the size of an avocado.
Your Body During Week 16
As your baby grows, your body continues to adapt. You may experience continued breast growth, increased production of gas, and more frequent back pains. These changes are normal as your body supports your pregnancy.

Ultrasound (Pelvic) Non-Pregnant
A pelvic ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive scan that captures images of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic area. It helps detect fibroids, cysts, and other abnormalities, and is useful for investigating pelvic pain, irregular periods, or fertility issues. For best results, schedule between days 5–10 of your menstrual cycle, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
