The Chickenpox (Varicella) Vaccine protects adults from chickenpox, a contagious viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. The vaccine is given in 2 doses to ensure full protection; the first dose at least 4 weeks apart from the second dose. It is recommended for adults who have never had chickenpox or been vaccinated.
