The Copper Intrauterine Device (IUD) is a reliable, long-lasting birth control method that doesn't use hormones. It helps prevent pregnancy, regulates menstrual cycles, and can reduce heavy bleeding.
Please be advised that only IUD insertion procedures require ultrasound evaluation by an OB-GYN sonologist.
For IUD insertion, the required ultrasound may have been performed within one year prior to the procedure. However, a more recent ultrasound is preferred whenever possible.
Patients who do not have a regular OB-GYN may schedule a teleconsultation with our clinic. During the consultation, our physician can assess the patient and provide a request for a transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) if indicated.

Only IUD insertions require ultrasound evaluation by an OB-GYN sonologist.
A pelvic ultrasound/TVS done within the past year may be accepted, although a more recent scan is preferred. Patients without a regular OB-GYN may book a teleconsultation with us for a TVS request, if needed.
IUD insertion is ideally performed within the first 7 days of the menstrual cycle.
For insertions beyond this recommended window, a consultation is required to discuss the procedure and cervical preparation. An in-person consult is preferred, but teleconsultation is available if necessary.
Cervical preparation medication may be prescribed when indicated after consultation. Insertion outside the recommended timing may have a lower chance of successful insertion.
A post-insertion TVS is required to confirm proper IUD placement. The request will be provided after the procedure.
