Pap Smear - Liquid-Based

A Pap smear is a quick and important screening done by a doctor or trained healthcare provider to check for changes in the cervix. During the procedure, a speculum is gently inserted into the vagina to allow a clear view of the cervix—this may feel like mild pressure. A small sample of cells is then collected, which can cause a brief pinch or slight discomfort, similar to a routine pelvic exam. The procedure usually takes just a few minutes and is generally well-tolerated.

Regular Pap smears are recommended for all women starting at age 21. If you're 21-29, you should get tested every 3 years. For women 30-65, you get tested with both a Pap and HPV test every 3 years. Even if you've had the HPV vaccine, regular Pap smears are still important for complete protection. The good news? Most women can stop testing after age 65 if they've had normal results for many years.

• No Menstruation/Spotting for at least three (3) days prior to the procedure.
• Do not use vaginal douche/feminine wash, tampons, birth control foams, jellies, vaginal creams or vaginal medications for three (3) days prior to the procedure.
• No sexual contact at least three (3) days prior to the procedure.
